In my adolescent years. I struggled to find a role model or anyone I can look up to, that could guide me along my journey. I would be envious of my peers who would tell stories of their siblings, relatives or parents and how much they have inspired, guided or provided for them.
Despite this and after graduating from secondary school and then attending ITE. My mindset of starting anew and openmindedness when i step foot into ITE, changed me in terms of how I look at things and my approach when it comes to work and life. I have found a great deal of satisfaction for learning, leading projects with my classmates and socializing. And only then, have I taken things into my own hands and gotten more confident to lead, guide, and act as my own role model.
I am an ambitious person, always in pursuit for something and I am keen on improving myself each day. I hold myself in high regards and I intend to contribute as much as I can to society while I am here!
In my free time I enjoy exploring film and music genres, listening to podcasts talking about philosophies or anything in general or having a prolonged conversations with my friends. I have only recently taken up interest in cooking and writing, I must say it's fun to look at recipes and fantasizing about preparing them. For now I am just going to stick with my salty burnt chicken breast and plain rice. I will update this if there are any developments in the cooking department.
Software Engineer
FinTech Intern
Diploma in Information Technology
The experience thus far, has been an enjoyable and momentous time. Eventhough COVID-19 happened, and my first year was spent mostly indoors. I still believe that it was a valuable part to my life. Having to adapt to a different learning and communication style was a tough nut to crack but I managed to persist and kept my determined and driven spirit.
As far as it goes, I have used my time throughout to learn and master technical proficiencies while also trying to understand more about myself, my values and passions
I find great passion in these modules and I am looking to expand on them in the future!
I am also the Vice President for NYP AI (Interest Group), and I manage content and internal affairs. I have utilized my time in NYP AI to learn as much as I can about data science and machine learning. I have proposed and conducted workshops for freshmen and taught them simple supervised learning models. I am appreciative of the whole experience as I am able to make and see other people as excited as I am to the world of Machine Learning!
Operations Intern
During my internship, I had a hand in many different projects! Large-scale computer configuration and maintanence, Singtel's ERP software and router configurations(handled and processed router trade-ins), warehouse management. Oh, and I have never been exposed nor taught about warehouse management before that. It was a difficult week trying to cope with the new responsibility, but soon after observing, learning and documenting. I was able to come up with a new process (improve the existing one) of handling the operation in the warehouse that utilizes excel spreadsheets. This lead to a boost in productivity and a more efficient operation.
Higher Nitec in Business Information System
My time while in ITE College East, was spent productively and it furthered my interest in tech and business.
Through the modules that I took, it provided me the opportunity to expand on my soft and technical skills. For example, in my TechPreneurship module we were expected to present and pitch on a business idea and its relevant details/feasibility. Using my previous project: MyBio, I developed a business model, researched on the market and pitched it to my lecturers. Safe to say that after getting distinction, it proved that I have developed my presentation and communication skills.
Besides that module, I was fortunate enough to learn about Enterprise Networking, Database and Application development, Virtualization and Business entreprise systems. Those modules made me appreciate the complexity and beauty of the tech industry!
Normal (A)cademics
OPSS helped fostered my interest in the sciences and accounting. I remember fondly the lessons that I attended, and having so much fun in them. During this time, I learned about Quantum Mechanics on my own time and its implication to technology. This promoted my interest in the Computer Sciences
I also joined a Uniformed Group, NCDCC(National Civil Defence Cadet Corps). I attended the Senior Non Commission Officer (SNCO) training to attain my Staff Sergeant rank. For me, the experience nurtured values such as Leadership, Discipline, Integrity, Courage, Respect and Commitment
